Servomex sensor technology brand, Hummingbird Sensing Technology, attends Queen’s Award ceremony at Buckingham Palace
Crowborough, UK, July 2022 – Queen’s Award winners and expert manufacturer of gas sensors for medical and industrial applications, Hummingbird Sensing Technology, has attended a special ceremony (JULY 12).
Chris Edwards, Technical Manager for Hummingbird Sensing Technology – the brand of which was launched in 2011 by Servomex – represented the company at a reception held at Buckingham Palace in the presence of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, after the company was announced a winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.
Hummingbird received the accolade after demonstrating significant growth in international trade over the last six years. Part of this growth is attributed to the ways in which Hummingbird responded to the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to maintain commitments to industrial customers, the team developed a faster-to-produce model of the Paramagnetic oxygen sensor for non-medical OEM customers. In order to do so, the team implemented a three-year development program over the course of just 14 weeks, introducing stringent hygiene measures and a seven-day-a-week shift system to allow better social distancing, while trying to meet the heavy demand from partners in the healthcare market for its sensors as the global need for critical care ventilators soared.
Other winners of the awards, announced in April this year, also attended the prestigious event.
