Following the honor of receiving the 2016 Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation) the UK’s highest accolade for business success ‘ earlier this year, Hummingbird Sensing Technology has been formally presented with the award at a special ceremony.
Hummingbird, Servomex’s sensing brand, officially received its award from the Queen’s representative, Peter Field, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for East Sussex, at the Servomex Technical Centre, Crowborough, Wednesday 12 October.
The High Sheriff of East Sussex, Michael Foster, was also in attendance, along with Cllr Chris Hardy, chairman of Wealden District Council, the Mayor of Crowborough Cllr Ronald Reed and Cllr Michael Ensor, the chairman of East Sussex County Council.
Led by Servomex Group President Chuck Hurley, the company’s current UK directors were on hand to witness the presentation, along with former MD Chris Cottrell and former Technology Director Riad Kocache.
Representatives from Servomex’s parent company, Spectris’ Chief Executive John O’Higgins, Business Group Director Jo Hallas, and Head of Corporate Affairs Siobhan Andrews’ were also present.
The award recognizes the outstanding achievement by UK businesses for commercial success as a result of innovation. Hummingbird won its award for the innovation in the design and manufacture of their Paramagnetic oxygen sensors used in medical and industrial applications.
Chuck Hurley, President, Servomex Group Ltd, and Martin Cox, Sales & Marketing Director for Hummingbird Sensing Technologies, joined hundreds of other successful UK businesses at Buckingham Palace, where Her Majesty was present, to celebrate this high achievement in July.

Continuous hard work has enabled us to be where we are today, through decades of research and design behind the Paramagnetic sensor.
